The Cañon City Area Recreation and Park District's Arkansas Riverwalk Dog Park opened in June of 2011. This park was made possible by the Recreation District, the Dog Park Committee, and several financial contributions from local businesses and individuals. Since that time it has undergone several changes and improvements. The Habitat for Humanity Agility Course was added in the northeast corner. In February of 2014 the installation of a shade pavilion was completed with grant funding assistance from the Nutro Company.
